Decay is a 2D survival game set in a post-apocalyptic world, showcasing my skills as a solo game developer. Created using GameMaker Studio 2, the project consumed approximately two years of dedicated effort, imparting invaluable lessons in game design and enhancing my proficiency across various disciplines, including music composition, foley art, level design, programming, and more.

Decay revolves around a player's quest to reach a safe haven in a world ravaged by an infectious virus. The core gameplay elements encompass exploration, base building and defense, resource collection, crafting, and even the option to mutate oneself with the virus.

Although the game has recently been put on hold due to limited resources and the ambitious scope that exceeded my capabilities within a reasonable timeframe, this experience has led me to pursue smaller-scaled projects for the time being. While there are numerous original ideas and game loops that I would love to have fully realized, I remain determined to complete this game in the future. In the meantime, I am actively seeking opportunities to collaborate with others, acquire new skills, and work within a team setting to further refine my craft and eventually (many years down the line) bring Decay to the level of quality I aspire it to be.

The game garnered a considerable following, with my YouTube channel, documenting the development process, accumulating around 65,000 views and 3,000 subscribers, and my TikTok showcasing the journey amassing over 1.1 million views. These experiences have provided valuable insights into organic marketing strategies as well.
